How It All Started
Thread the Needle Workshop was born in late summer 2020, created by me — Ray — in the quiet moments between UK lockdowns. What started as a small idea in my Northolt home quickly grew into a welcoming sewing studio built on patience, creativity, and the belief that everyone can learn to sew with the right support.Let the writing speak for itself. Keep a consistent tone and voice throughout the website to stay true to the brand image and give visitors a taste of the company’s values and personality.
I’ve spent years working within the fashion industry, and I bring that professional experience into every class I teach. But more importantly, I bring warmth, encouragement, and a genuine love for helping people discover what they can make with their own hands. My teaching style is calm, friendly, and beginner‑focused — I break things down simply, celebrate mistakes as part of the process, and make sure you leave feeling proud of what you’ve achieved.
Thread the Needle began in West London, but over the years it has grown into a
travelling fashion education school too. I’ve taught in different parts of the UK,
bringing sewing, pattern cutting, and garment‑making skills to communities that don’t always have access to creative learning spaces.
No matter where I’m teaching, my mission stays the same:
to make sewing accessible, joyful, and confidence‑building for everyone — one stitch
at a time.
